‘Long Read’ essays focus on original, iconoclastic perspectives and in particular explore ‘high impact uncertainties’ that generate extreme possible scenarios and herald potential large-scale structural or systemic disruption.
Typically they take a long view, five, ten or twenty years ahead, but occasionally explore scenario outcomes linked to particular pivotal developments, such as the possible pathways that may emerge for the UK and the EU post Brexit, or the future of US politics.
They also explore how to think about the future, which is just as important as simulating the possible futures of global warming, or geo-political flash points.
